Col. C. E. Bowden

3 petrol models
JILDI JUNIOR
I have been procrastinating over 'The Colonels' section because, while in possession of quite a lot of material there is little associated explanatory information and I have not had time to research this remarkable man's legacy. Much has been written about him in other publications - In particular the SAM 35 Speaks magazine.
I have decided to add some of my material in a rather disorganised manner. Much of the material comes from Photograph Albums and correspondence that found its way to The Commander after the Colonel's death.

The Blue Dragon

The Blue Dragon is famous for wresting the record for duration flying by a petrol engine model aircraft in 1934. Bowden's original aircraft was restored by Commander Greenhalgh and remins in flyable condition to this day - If someone could only show me how to operate the Atom Minor petrol engine!

I believe these pictures show a 'modified' aircraft that was fitted with 'balloon' tyres
