Sitting in the grass at Wimbledon (? 1928) with 'The Drinking Straw'. Span (I think) 54", weight 2.5 ozs. Balsa nose block and tail fairing. Bamboo u/c legs; drinking straw (real straw) fuselage spacers and l.e. of mainplane. Bamboo tail and rudder. Paper covered; latter very advanced stuff! A.E. Jones did not approve! This model did well and flew convincingly but did not climb very high - just got to 300' and stooged around.
