Pelly-Fry Photograph Album
Amongst the memorabilia included in the collection that I inherited from Lieut. Cmdr. Alwyn Greenhalgh was J. E. Pelly-Fry's Photograph Album. It is almost impossible to establish any information about the People, Places or Events depicted therein and although some of the photographs are obviously not related to aviation I have included all of them. They are presented in the order in which they appear in the album despite it being likely (certain!) that chronologically some pictures are out of order. I have also included the small amount of textural data that was included in the album. Pelly-Fry's words have been preserved where possible.
When I read Pelly-Fry's book - "Heavenly Days" I realised most of the illustrations were taken from this Album. I subsequently managed to ascertain the whereabouts of J.E's Son, Jonathan and was extremely pleased to be able to re-unite him with his Father's photographs!

motors. The fuselage is made from two halves of pine shaped externally then hollowed out inside afterwards. The undercarriage is from Tiger Moth wing bracing wire! Solid Tailplane, Fin and Rudder. Never flew because no really smooth ground was found that was available. Wing loading, from memory was 14 lbs/sq. ft. Anyway, supposed to beat R.N. Bullock's 32 mph record over 100 yds.
Van Hattum again.
